Manchester United finished 3rd in Premier League table with 66 points achieving the Champions League football. Crystal Palace finished 14th in the Premier League table with 43 points in the bottom half of the table.

Manchester United signed Donny Van de Beek up till now. Crystal Palace signed Eberechi Eze and grabbed Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea. Relatively, Manchester United had a very quiet transfer window.

Manchester United was provided with an extra week rest due to qualification in semi-finals of Europa League. Palace drew with Bournemouth mid-week in Carabao Cup (EFL) and eventually lost on Penalties.

Manchester United played the only pre-season match against Aston Villa ending in defeat.
