Jadon Sancho left Manchester City in 2017 in search of first-team football to become a better footballer. Now, fast forward to age 20, he is already classified as a generational talent. At 20 years of age, Jadon Sancho established himself with some scintillating performances in three stellar seasons with Dortmund. Since January, there are strong rumours of him returning to the red part of Manchester.
As per the current reports, Sancho has agreed in principle to join Manchester United. But, Dortmund is adamant not to sell him this summer. Dortmund is a money-minded club and won’t mind let him go for the right price. 108 million Pounds is the rumoured transfer fee. Manchester United has the money power but Glazee family is sluggish.
Track record of Manchester United shows they eventually get their target. Bruno Fernandes was dragged till final few days of transfer window. Harry Maguire was dragged for more than a month. It's already 8 weeks of dragging for Jadon Sancho.
How will Jadon Sancho improve Manchester United?
Jadon Sancho is an attacking player, primarily playing as a right-winger. Being a versatile player, Dortmund has often used him from left as well. Manchester United needs him as a right-winger. They lack a traditional right-winger since 2015. Jadon Sancho has 20 goals and 18 assists under his name in season 2019-20. Jadon Sancho played 14 matches out of 32 as a right-winger. As a right-winger, he scored 7 goals and assisted 6 goals.
Another attribute of Jadon Sancho as a right-winger is he is a wide man player. Being a wide player, he will pull one or two defenders towards him creating a space within the box. Apart from attacking view, he drops deeper on both sides to get on the ball in these deeper regions. He also likes to start the play from back creating the space higher up the pitch. Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and Rashford would love this transition.
Mason Greenwood has 25 touches in the defensive third. 15 million Daniel James has 22 touches in the defensive third. This leads to a slow transition. Apart from that, Aaron Wan Bissaka lacks good final crosses.
Jadon Sancho has 40 touches in the defensive third and his transitioning is dangerous for the opposition. Apart from creating the space, he also has the pace to move into the final third quickly. His goals show how he reaches the far post just in time to tap in the ball.
1vs1 with Jadon Sancho is a nightmare for defenders. His
technical ability and passing capability make him one of the best dribblers.
His crossing ability with perfection is often underestimated. Jadon Sancho is
expected to have 0.45 assist per 90 and over two and a half key passes per 90.
In the 4-2-3-1 system, which Ole plays, Jadon Sancho will free Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes higher up the pitch. He will push defender
towards himself creating space. Wan Bissaka will make the overlapping run
taking one defender out of position. This will create a huge space for Paul
Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. Jadon Sancho needs to find either of them and
chances of goal will increase.
The new signing Donny Van de Beek likes to make a run in the
box. Chip from Jadon Sancho to Donny in the box and his smart technical ability
will create goals.
I see Jadon Sancho creating goals instead of scoring goals
for Manchester United.
Overall, he is a big package and if Manchester United pull
this signing off, it would dramatically increase the attacking game.
